The Government of India officially declared Ayurveda Day in 2016 to promote and propagate Ayurveda. The decision to celebrate Ayurveda Day was taken by the Ministry of Ayush in India. The first Ayurveda Day was celebrated on October 28, 2016, to mark the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and promote Ayurveda as a holistic system of medicine.
